Im Notfall

If you are experiencing or threatened with violence in your relationship or family, you can contact our women’s shelter.

Our telephone number is:

04821 / 61712

Violence can take many forms. For example:

  • if you are beaten, pushed or restrained
  • if you are verbally abused, insulted or belittled
  • if your money is taken away or withheld
  • if you are not allowed to freely choose your relationship
  • if you fear for yourself or your children

Other situations can also constitute violence. If you are unsure whether what you are experiencing is violence, you can still call us.

The Itzehoe women’s shelter is an anonymous place of refuge for women and their children who are affected by or threatened with violence.

„Anonymous“ means that our address is not publicly known. This provides you with greater protection.

Women aged 18 and over can be admitted to our women’s shelter – regardless of their individual circumstances, culture, social class or country of origin. It does not matter who is perpetrating the violence: partners, ex-partners, family members or other individuals.

Our staff will support, advise and accompany you impartially – in other words, we are on your side.

If you understand another language better, we can arrange for an interpreter to be present so that you can speak in your native language.

You will usually contact us by telephone.

However, someone else can also support you, for example:

  • a friend or trusted person
  • a counselling centre
  • the police

Our telephone number is: 04821 / 61712.
We are available every day at this number, including at night in emergencies.

A women’s shelter is not a home. The women who live with us take care of themselves and their children independently: they cook, clean and organise their daily lives themselves.

Our staff provide support and advice on issues such as:

  • Money and living expenses
  • Separation and divorce
  • Forced marriage
  • Protection from further violence
  • Stay and the right to remain in Germany
  • Visitation and contact arrangements with children
  • Educational issues
  • and any other issues that concern you.

Our women’s shelter is also a place for children. They live with their mothers here.

The staff offer supervised play times several times a week and are available to talk to the children, if they have any questions or want to talk.

Staying at the women’s shelter is free of charge for all women.

It is important to note that you must be able to take care of yourself and your children (e.g. shopping and cooking).

If you feel that „things cannot go on like this“ or if you are simply unsure whether a women’s shelter is the right thing for you, you can call us at any time. Together, we will look at what options are available to you.
